Not only mitochondrial
[edit]As mentioned in the section "Composition and structure" the NADH dehydrogenase is not only present in mitochondria, but also in some (or all?) bacteria, e.g. E. coli, M. tuberculosis. Therefore, the introduction as well as other sections (like "Function") should be improved.

NDUFA4 is not a subunit of complex I
[edit]There are two recent papers from two independent groups that demonstrate that NDUFA4 is not a subunit of complex I but a subunit of complex IV.
NDUFA4 is a subunit of complex IV of the mammalian electron transport chain.

NAD1?
[edit]Can someone tie in the "NAD1" terminology that is frequently used in molecular phylogenetics? At present this appears to be a gap in wikipedia. For example, "The nad1 gene encoding subunit I of the respiratory chain NADH dehydrogenase is fragmented into five unique-copy coding segments that are scattered over at least 40 kb and interspersed with other genes in the wheat mitochondrial genome." Merge with NADH dehydrogenase ?
[edit]I got to this page as well as the NADH dehydrogenase page from the electron transport chain page. The NADH dehydrogenase page looks more like a stub, and I'm not sure what the difference is between it and this page. (Is there an NADH dehydrogenase that doesn't use ubiquinol?).
Should the two be merged? I don't know how to start the process, or which talk page it should go on, so someone else can take this up now (or drop the whole thing). Jimw338 (talk) 04:39, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
